ACT! 2010 Compatibility with Office 2010

office integrationWhen Office 2010 was released, a lot of us ACT! users and ACT! Certified Consultants were hoping that we might see an update for ACT! 2010 that would bring compatibility with the new Office product.

We figured that it wouldn't be unreasonable for that compatibility to be included, but alas there is no official support for Office 2010 for ACT! 2010 users.  It's not a huge surprise, considering that Microsoft CRM doesn't even offer Office 2010 support at the time of this writing.

However, all hope is not lost for users on ACT! 2010 who opt not to upgrade to ACT! 2011.  My friend Joan O'Connell, an ACT! Certified Consultant at CT Consulting and Training recently posted  what can be achieved through a workaround provided by Sage.

Additionally, here's the knowledge base article outlining the steps:

Update: for my fellow Canadians, simply follow the directions above but note that you need to download the file from the article, rename it to CAPreferences206.xml, and then replace that file instead of USPreferences206.xml  (I have tested this out and it works as advertised!)
